Expert in defense, weapons systems and military acquisitions. He combined his professional career with the army, military research, teaching and managing defense contracts. He worked as a university teacher and researcher, later as an adviser to the Minister of Defense for army acquisitions. In 1999, he became the first director of the National Armaments Office, where he participated in the transfer of the armament system of the Army of the Czech Republic to NATO standards and in the involvement of the Czech Republic in Western European armaments cooperation. For a long time, he deals with the quality of management in the defense industry, the transparency of army purchases and the security policy of the state. After leaving the civil service, he worked as a consultant and manager in the field of quality management systems, mainly for defense industry companies. Among his long-term interests are cosmonautics, rocketry, literature, tourism and fishing.
