The President's Embarrassing Ankara Controversy: Struggle for Image of Collapsing Western Hegemony and Sponsorship Money
President Petr Pavel's speech at the government meeting, accompanied by emotions and regrets, reveals a much deeper geopolitical clash. In my opinion, this is not just a plane ticket to Turkey or a dispute with Macinka, but a desperate attempt by the real opposition - financed by Taiwan or American structures - to show its sponsors that the politics of the military-industrial complex and the old Western dominance are still alive. At the time of the emerging multilateral world, the media is only playing a theater to pretend that the course changes represented by Trump or Babiš are only temporary.
President in power: disgust, remorse, emotions.
This is what happens when you want to go to Turkey and the Turk says no.
But the government's role IS to "solve, switch and investigate". The president is the most visible of the remaining opposition figures. Not the formal one, in parliament. The real one - financed by the Taiwanese, USAID or NED, through non-profit organizations such as European Values or AMO, which people like Pavel, Vystrčil, Pekarová or Lipavský only represent on the outside. What Petr Pavel needs now is to show these sponsors that he is still in the game, their politics are still alive and it is worth continuing to support him. Specifically, to make a video in Ankara that could be taken over by their media and passed off as the official position of the Czech Republic and the "democratic majority" in wider Europe. That the actual attitude of the government is different and that the president has no say in foreign policy is not essential; it is done for media reality. And not so much Czech, but European Union and American. The goal is to pretend that Trump and Babiš are transitory, that there is still agreement on the original unity of the West and the policy of the military-political complex in the USA/EU/NATO.
And that is precisely why, in my opinion, the highly embarrassing Macinka-Pavel dispute is being resolved so much. It's not about plane tickets to Ankara, not even about Pavel. It's about the image. Whether the "Biden" dominance of the West continues, whether EU and US states intend to continue to invest in it through NATO, or go to war for it. Or whether the world has become multilateral and the relics of the Cold War are passé - even with the politicians who represent this trend.
