High-speed China: Shanghai-Ningbo in under two hours, a world-class port and a lesson in infrastructure construction

China from high-speed train: speed up to 350-360 km/h, Shanghai-Ningbo journey (like Prague-Ostrava) under two hours even with stops. Price approx. 10 EUR normal and 20 EUR first class.

Ningbo is a city of eight million people and also the largest port in the world in terms of volume of goods. If we want to sell or bring anything to China, maybe it will be here. We also discussed this here, together with Austrian colleagues who already do business here. If our government has sense, so can we.

There is more inspiration here. For example, we had the opportunity to speak with representatives of a large construction company that is building a track for those high-speed trains. They have it figured out as if from a kit (just very big...), they do it quickly and half cheaper per kilometer than here. So they build a little differently than we do, high-speed trains usually run on viaducts, not "on the ground", which has both advantages and disadvantages - you can walk under it or drive through it without risky crossings and overpasses, it's easier to build on soft ground or in an area where floods can come, it doesn't disturb agricultural production, nor the movement of animals, so there's no need to build "crossings for bears"

But it also has disadvantages, it can dampen noise more difficult and it is also much more visible in the countryside.

Otherwise, "truth lovers" keep telling us, go and see China outside the big cities, where it's horror and poverty and illiterate villagers in rice hats. Well, I wouldn't say. Fields, factories, quite solid-looking houses, landscape a bit like Polabí, roads in good condition, decent infrastructure. And order, no slums and garbage dumps, as you see at every turn in many other countries in Asia. At least I tried to quickly film it for you.
