Vice President JD Vance Delivers Remarks in Brownsville, TX

≫Please have a seat. American shipbuilding is back in a very big way. I have to thank our great director, Russ, who make this possible. I want to give a shout out to Governor Abbott. One of the reasons Texas has been a leader, whether he's working with Republican or Democrat presidents, he wants what's best for Texas. Thanks for being a great partner and making the best possible. I'm going to be brief because it's a little hot. It's hotter here than it is in Ohio. What this facility represents to me is the American dream renewed. An American dream built by American workers, created by American companies, and ensuring that the next generation of Americans future is in our hands and in the hands of our fellow citizens. You have to think for a second about every time we send someone to war, or to a combat situation, we send them with rifles, missiles, drones, autonomous ships, and non-autonomous ships. We send them with modern technology, but technology that has been around for 60, 80 years. When we send an American Marine or soldier, or any of our great service members into harms way, . Do they have the tools they need to win the mission, come home safely and kick ass in the process? That's fundamentally what we are asking ourselves. How can we send to the next generation of Americans to do the most difficult job in the world. If the tools are not even made by their fellow citizens ? , My son, my nine-year-old, my oldest boy is in love with the United States Marine Corps. We let him watch in Washington last summer, when you ask him what he wants to do, he says, a paleontologist or Marine Corps general. I'm proud of his father but ask myself if my son did the great honor to our family of becoming a United States Marine. I would want him to go to war with the best tools. I don't want him to go to war at all. But God forbid when it's necessary, and we have to I want him to go with the various -- very best tools and I wind the tools to be made by fellow citizens, by people he can rely on and trust. By people he knows has his interest in the interest of his country in his heart. We allowed the American dream to be outsourced. We allowed our troops to going to war with tools that were not built by our own people. Ladies and gentlemen, thanks to the leadership of the President of the United States that has changed, and changed for good. (applause) But it also means, of course, 10,000 people, this facility will be responsible for 10,000 jobs. One thing that I'm proud about our administration, you saw the jobs before. Today, the economists said we would create 40,000 jobs , we created 90,000. It's the service sector, goods producing sector, manufacturing, construction, it's in technology and healthcare. We are rebuilding the American dream by the ground up by employing and investing in American workers and American businesses. But this facility will mean is that 10,000 families have a good paycheck. 10,000 sons and daughters will see mom and dad go to work with purpose. 10,000 people will know that their country is billing-- being built not by people of the United States, but their own citizens and in their own community. To the workers, investors, to the leadership in this company. I'm proud of you. This represents something for 40 years we saw factories close down, we saw shipyards close down. We saw our friends and neighbors lose their job because we had a government but also a corporate leadership that did not want to invest in the Advair -- American worker anymore. As you break ground on this facility, build it up to great heights and as you start seeing ships roll off the line, know that the president of the United States, the vice president of the United States, . We are proud of you, thankful for the work that you are doing. We are rooting for you and you will be our champion here in Texas and we will be your champion in Washington DC.
