The most shocking part of the Bible…

The most shocking part of the entire New Testament to me is not the crucifixion, it's the resurrection of Lazarus. Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead days after he died. His body is literally stinking and he raises him. It's incredible. People are blown away by it. And then the Pharisees show up and they're like, "Well, we're going to have to kill Jesus." And then they decide, "Actually, we're going to have to kill Lazarus, too." Because [laughter] people are watching this and like they start to believe in Jesus. But there's not one moment where they pause to be like, "Wait a second. How did he raise a guy from the dead? And are we really going to kill the guy who was just dead but raised by Jesus because we think it reflects well on Jesus?" They couldn't hear themselves. And I have compassion for them, actually, cuz I feel like none of us can really hear ourselves. And we say these totally insane things and completely miss the point 100% and we don't even know it.
