Tomáš Hanák and the cafés defend democracy by fighting against democracy
I was switching these TV programs when I was interested in an interview on the ČT24 channel by a Czech television editor with the actor Tomáš Hanák, the leading protagonist of the Sklep theater. It's summer, the Karlovy Vary Film Festival is taking place, and so the screen, like every year at this time, is full of characters from the world of the film industry. As long as the actors talked about the film, it was classic stories from the filming, nothing against that, although I don't need his affected diction at all. But then they honed in on politics.
And at that moment it hit me again what a strange time we live in. Hanák began to vent his fear about democracy. Exactly the same as the other diners from the so-called Prague cafe, this strange pseudo-liberal confederation of boys and girls who talk to each other and at the same time think of themselves as something more than the rest of us, which is why the common people very fittingly rechristened them "better people".
I'll generalize. These guys are worried about democracy because political parties other than the ones they vote for have won democratic elections. Specifically, Babiš's ANO, Okamur's SPD and Macink's Motorists. And democracy is apparently threatened because these parties created a government that implements the program with which they went to the elections and for which they received a mandate from the voters. One example: they won the elections also because the voters threw it at them and for the reason that they promised to cancel the so-called concession fees. A magical paradox arises. Hanák, café owners and other structures linked to them defend democracy by fighting against democracy, against the winners of democratic elections, or by questioning the results of standard elections, because they live in the belief that democracy is only when they, or rather their political lovers, win.
During the film festival, these specimens are nicely concentrated in Karlovy Vary, and they are actively assisted by journalists of the equally afflicted mainstream media led by Czech Television. And hand in hand, among other things, they are currently fiercely fighting for the preservation of the established public money channels, to which many are connected, but they do not mind at all that the voters of those against whom they raise their voices so flamboyantly also pump money into them.
But if only that. This "elite" is literally roaring with enthusiasm when moderator Eben jokes at the expense of the Minister of Culture, i.e. the head of the very department, which sends tens of millions to the peculiar elect from the "Karlsvara" social and opinion ghetto year after year, not only for their film productions, but also for their entertainment, parties, parties and drinking parties.
When I try to concentrate it into one short sentence, it seems to me that the "Karlsvara" elitist ghetto is saying this to the common people: "Stupid voters, we are a democracy, so shut up and pay!"
