senate elections are coming up

The Senate elections are just around the corner, and once again the question arises whether we will vote according to familiar faces and expensive campaigns, or according to the real work and character of the candidates. If we want change, we need to start judging people by what they did for the citizens between elections, not by how many billboards they had in front of them.

Every election looks the same. A few months before the vote, billboards, leaflets and advertisements start appearing around us. Familiar faces stare at us from television, social networks and newspapers. Some candidates have been almost invisible for years, but suddenly they are everywhere. And many people will vote for them just because they know their name. But this is where, in my opinion, the problem begins.

Democracy should not be a popularity contest. It should not be a show of celebrities or marketing projects. It should be about serving the citizens. About the work that the candidate does long before the election and long after it.

My experience in Brno only confirmed this for me. We ran against a well-known actor that almost everyone knew. He was everywhere before the election. After the elections, however, most people find it difficult to find specific results of his work for the region. When problems came, when people needed support or help, he was nowhere to be seen or heard. And that's why I think it's time to change the way we vote.

We should ask where was this person when there was no election? What did he do for his city, his region or his village? Did he help people when needed? Wasn't he afraid to speak up when it was uncomfortable? Was he among the citizens even when there were no cameras?

True character does not show during an election campaign. It shows in difficult times.

It is known for people who are not afraid of work. On those who come to help during floods. On those who stand next to citizens when they feel helpless. For those who are not afraid to speak their mind, even if they pay for it with attacks, slander or public humiliation.

Such people often do not have millions to spend on campaigns. They don't have strong sponsors, marketing agencies or media support behind them. However, they have something else - experience, courage and the trust of those they helped.

That's why I decided to fight again for your trust and your votes.

Not because I aspire to political office. Not because I want to be part of political games. But because I believe that the citizens of South Moravia deserve a representation that will really work in their favor. In the upcoming senate elections, I will go for South Moravia, which is my home. I chose the Znojmo region, which has huge potential, but also a number of problems that deserve more attention. A region of hard-working, honest and proud people who deserve to have their voice heard not only before elections, but every day. I don't promise the impossible. I don't promise to solve all the world's problems. However, I can promise honest work, openness, listening and the courage to defend the interests of the people who will entrust me with representation.

We don't have rich sponsors behind us. We don't have millions for billboards. We only have our experience, our work and the belief that politics should be a service, not a business. Whatever the results of the election, I know one thing for sure. We have stood by you in the past, we stand by you today and we will stand by you tomorrow.

Don't choose familiar faces. Choose a character. Don't make promises. Choose deeds.

Because the future of South Moravia will not be changed by those who appear a month before the elections. It will be changed by the people who were always there when a helping hand was needed.
