The reality of European industry and Chinese production: Why even "German" pots are made near Shanghai
The production of luxury kitchen equipment of traditional German and Italian brands right in the industrial zones near Shanghai vividly demonstrates the depth of European deindustrialization. While European companies are crushing expensive energy, emission allowances (EU ETS) and endless regulatory burden from the European Commission's workshop, China has cheap inputs, raw materials and modern production infrastructure. The result is a situation where European companies are left with only marketing labels and margins, while the real added value and manufacturing know-how remain in Asia.
Politics isn't just about wars, it's about pot too

Why is that so? Well, you need steel or aluminum for the pot. And for those, you need cheap energy and raw materials. And China has those, while Germany has Ursula. That's why the Germans can just paint a logo and stick a price tag on the pot, but leave it to Shanghai to make it. In the past, the Germans at least sold cars to the Chinese for that, but they also make their own cars in China, and not just any...
It is time to ask where the German Eurocrats went wrong. And what can we do to redress the imbalance? Either as the EU, or as the Czechs, Slovaks and other Central Europeans, if the union goes where it has so far. With colleagues from Austria, we also discussed emission allowances and the whole tangle of regulations, which do not make it entirely easy for us.
Anyway, the same pots are said to be about a quarter cheaper if you buy them without the German or Italian sticker. The choice is unlimited in terms of material and properties. But in the kitchen you will have Chinese quality from China, instead of German quality from China.
