The Sudden Death of Senator Lindsey Graham: The Passing of One of the Chief Architects of American Interventionism

The sudden death of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from complicit heart failure marks a symbolic end to an era of aggressive American neoconservatism and one-sided hegemony. For more than a quarter of a century in top politics, Graham was one of the most relentless advocates of foreign interventions, blanket sanctions and the promotion of Washington's interests regardless of the human sacrifices or the stability of the affected regions. Fate allowed him to leave right in the middle of fragmented work on new sanctions packages and geopolitical plans, even before his long-held concept of global dominance finally collapsed under the weight of his own contradictions and opposition from the rest of the world.

Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the biggest supporters of American wars, regime change and sanctions, has died in the US. Even on Saturday, after the meeting with Zelensky, he joked to the press: "I can't die now. I still have to finish the sanctions against Russia, solve Iran and complete the Israeli-Saudi normalization." A few hours later he was found dead, according to reports of a ruptured aorta.

Whatever pagan deity stands over the American "neocons", it was extremely generous to Senator Graham: It gave him a quarter of a century of glory in top politics, where he promoted American hegemony at the cost of millions of dead, wars and genocide. And at the same time, it was merciful to him: It allowed him to leave before this hegemony collapsed.
