Debate in Událosty ČT: I disproved Farský's myths about the European army and the rapid entry of Ukraine

In Událosty České televize, I corrected the misleading statement of my colleague Farský regarding the future of the European Union and security in a live broadcast. I pointed out that the creation of a joint EU army is legal and constitutional nonsense, as the EU is not a federation and the sending of soldiers remains the exclusive sovereign power of nation states. I also rejected the unrealistic promises of Ukraine joining the EU in 2027, which is completely out of the question in the foreseeable future due to the massive corruption of the regime there, the historical disputes with Poland and the astronomical economic costs for the EU budget. Public television must bring facts to viewers, not EU propaganda and fiction, especially at a time when European industry is collapsing and laying off tens of thousands of employees.

If CT is to survive, it must provide accurate and truthful information. This evening, I therefore repeatedly corrected colleague Farský's misinformation in Events:

No, the EU will have no army. Why? Because it is not a state, a federation, nor will it become one - that is, if the 27 member states do not change their constitutions, they will not give up sovereignty and, in the case of Ireland or Austria, also neutrality. And that simply won't happen during our mandates (and probably not even after). Until then, the deployment of even a single soldier must be approved by the relevant member state, so the EU does not and cannot have an army. As a lawyer, Farský should know that, he learns that in freshman political science, OMG! At most, the EU can spend a lot of money on armaments and get you into debt for it (which unfortunately it does under the leadership of such Farský, the fighter even boasted about it...), but it will still be about national armies that will go somewhere solely depending on where their member state sends them (or not, in the case of neutral states).

No, Ukraine will not join the EU in 2027 and probably not even during our mandates. Even the optimist Merz talks about "after 2030", which is the same as "when it rains and dries up", because Merz himself ends in 2029, if the AfD doesn't kick him out of the saddle earlier. Why won't Ukraine be in the EU? It would have to be approved by all member states, which will almost certainly not happen - it will not go primarily through the Poles due to the dispute with Zelensky about the Banderovka, nor through the Hungarians, where even Péter Magyar makes entry conditional on a referendum. But above all, it is economic nonsense, in addition to the massive corruption of the Zelensky regime (after Mindich-gate already quite obvious and declared even by pro-Western Ukrainians), we would also inherit extreme debts that would make every existing member state a net payer, it would cost us trillions, and such a step would cost most member state governments their political existence. Ukraine's entry, unlike the "EU-army" nonsense, can legally happen even without changing the founding treaties and constitutions of the member states, but it is so operationally and economically absurd that it will definitely not happen in 2027 - I'm willing to bet on it with Farský.

The show was set up so that Farský could babble about the fact that anyone who refuses to pay for Zelensky and does not want him in the European Union is a pro-Russian troll - but this agitation is tired after four years. The European Union needs to solve the fact that Volkswagen is laying off 100,000 employees and the industry is going bankrupt due to the loss of raw materials and outlets - and it will also have to be solved in the coming years, because otherwise the prime ministers and chancellors of the member countries will be thrown out of office.

As the Ebon Brothers sing in the song about the goldfish: one must discern what is reality and what is fiction. Public broadcasting, if we have to pay for it, must contribute to it. Otherwise, we can easily cancel it and their supporters can pay for some podcasts to listen to fiction.
