Alibi in the EU Council and the hypocrisy of the Pirates: How the Czech government missed the chance to block Chat Control

This government is unsophisticated in essential matters. As Elán sang: "A nice lady told me the other day - government, it seems to me that you are neither, nor, nor." I would say that someone is very sorry that the heavily overgrown snooping of phone calls is almost useless - people don't make phone calls, but call and text each other "via data", via chat applications. Hence these initiatives. WhatsApp is IMHO already a total a-hole due to Chat Control 1.0 (give a polite Secret Service Agent greeting at the start of every call or use Signal). If Chat Control 2.0 passes, it will be completely useless, across chat tools.

I do not believe that initiatives to spy on citizens' communications would be motivated purely by the protection of children's rights. There is too much hype around it. The main motivation is to bring under control dissidents and rebels, which are increasing due to unwanted domestic and foreign policies. With the elections, the ruling sets will no longer maintain their position, as we see with the Starmers, the Merz, the Macrons and others; to continue the politics of wars and decline, in the interests of transnational elites, will only go through surveillance and repression. We will try to build against this and, to kill all variants of Chat Control, we will look among our colleagues across the spectrum of the European Parliament majority. That's harder than blocking it on the Council, but it's not impossible.

For completeness,Czech pirate partyin general and MEP Gregorová in particular are complete posers and hypocrites. If they wanted to defend citizens against spying, they would primarily not have raised their hand for the European Commission in this lineup. But the current Pirates are just a fake, only a brand remained from the old days, most of the founders fighting for the freedom of the Internet and against corruption are already gone, and those who did not go alone were fired. Politically, they are already doing a pure EU mainstream, which they could easily do in the Ursula EPP as well, only on top in combination with the worst progressivism - similar to the once anti-war Greens, with whom they are in a group.
